# Quick Start

Get started by learning how to find newsletters, create lists and export data.

## How to search for newsletters

Let's imagine that you're trying to find a few promising newsletters in the niche that you're targeting. The [home screen](https://reletter.com/home) is the first place that you'll land in Reletter and that's where to begin your search.

![](/files/CNKMqwWqwG25eC9o7PGu)

Enter a topic and hit enter to begin searching for newsletters. Reletter looks at newsletter titles and descriptions and recent issues to find the most relevant matches. By default, the results are ordered by a combination of relevance and estimated subscribers.

Let's see how the results look:

![](/files/OQPAa4C2z3YPup6laJEK)

You may see an icon next to a newsletter's name if we think that they accept sponsors or advertisers.

You can also search newsletters by *Titles* and *Authors* if you already know what you're looking for. Or you can search across *Issues*.

![](/files/KTXAy7tuX3wePaJY5Tzd)

### Narrow down your search using filters

Reletter supports a large set of advanced search filters that allow you to narrow down your search results. For example, if you only want to see newsletters that accept sponsors or advertisements you can click the *Sponsored* filter button and tick that.

# How to find relevant newsletters for any topic or niche

Reletter makes it easy to find newsletters for the topic or niche that you care about. This guide explains how to use the search engine and gives you some tips and best practices.

## Search for any topic

Go to the [Home](https://reletter.com/home) screen to start your search by entering a topic, e.g. *real estate investing* or *marketing*.

![](/files/CNKMqwWqwG25eC9o7PGu)

{% hint style="info" %}
If your query is more specific you can also search for *Titles* and *Authors*. Click one of the tabs above the search input.
{% endhint %}

Reletter searches across titles and descriptions to find the most relevant newsletters for this topic and orders the results by relevance and estimated subscribers (highest first).

![](/files/OQPAa4C2z3YPup6laJEK)

A newsletter appears as **active** if it has published an issue within the past 45 days.

## Narrow down your search

For certain search queries, you may not be satisfied with the relevancy of the results. In this case you can use one or more of the advanced search filters in order to narrow down your search.

For example, perhaps you only want to see newsletters that accept sponsors or advertisements.

![](/files/fcZTkqzd9kjOsFLs4bSE)

{% hint style="info" %}
We look for certain keywords and patterns in a newsletter's recent issues to automatically detect whether that newsletter accepts sponsors or not.

# Sending a pitch

The pitch editor makes it easy to write your pitches inside Reletter. Choose from a range of winning templates, or add your own, and then customize it for each newsletter.

Templates can be used by anyone in your team. Send well-crafted pitches from your own email account or CRM in a couple of clicks.

First tap on *Send a Pitch* while you're viewing any newsletter:

![](/files/RgpQbe8r6mIXm4dIoSi3)

You will first be prompted to add this newsletter to a new or existing list.

Then choose a purpose for your pitch. What's your goal? The option you choose here will determine the templates you can choose from.

![](/files/P3mHzLmhM0fxNC82s4ss)

After that you can choose a **template**, copy a **previous pitch** (if you've sent any yet) or write your pitch from scratch. If you want to start from a template you'll be given some options to choose from:

![](/files/o4ypBbad0PLsu7OcGCTP)

You can also choose to *create a new template* here and it will visible to you and everyone else in your team. It's a great way to save time on future pitches.

Pick a template, or create one. Now it's time to start editing your pitch:

![](/files/H7PPMIqxM8p59VQgbz52)

We provide snippets related to the newsletter on the right-hand side to help you with drafting your pitch. Note that your draft will be saved as you type, so you can come back to this later and your changes will be saved.

When you're done editing, you will need to pick a contact by tapping on *Choose a Contact*:

![](/files/JULW6L8qgdkHWnMrYR0h)

Choose one of the contacts that Reletter found, or enter any email address if you have one you would like to use:

![](/files/LtQeNp9asJwP9sUZ5yGb)

Next it's time to send your email. If you choose **Open in my email client** then it will attempt to open the pitch in Gmail, Outlook or any other email software you use. Sometimes this doesn't work, so you should choose **Copy the pitch to my clipboard** and then paste it yourself inside your email software.

![](/files/Cba5a0WRmoEsO6cxr8OO)

Finally, once you've sent your pitch you should tap *I sent my pitch* to confirm and this newsletter will be marked as **Pitched** in the list. You can optionally enable **Remind me to follow up** and you will be sent an email in three days with a reminder.

![](/files/rCseQ4OdiZN7h99I4wGq)

That's it. Don't forget you can also quickly send a pitch while viewing a list:

![](/files/3MHWBGvzdfdGm6g61rJq)

# Understanding newsletter pages

Reletter's newsletter pages display a lot of information. This guide will walk you through each of the sections and explain what it all means.

It is recommended that you follow along by navigating to a real newsletter page, e.g. [Doomberg](https://reletter.com/publications/doomberg).

## The Basics

The top part of the page shows you the newsletter's basic information (including its title and author) and a few important links. If the system thinks that this publication is likely to publish freemium issues, it will show *Freemium* as the pricing, like the example below.

Note that you can always click on the newsletter's title to open a standalone page that you can link to. Clicking on the name of the author (the blue link under the title) will search for other shows by the same author.

# How to set up alerts

Alerts are useful to keeping track of when your brand, client's name or other keywords are mentioned in any new newsletter issue or article.

Reletter monitors new issues across its entire database of newsletters. It scans issue titles and content to find matches for your keywords.

First go to your [Alerts](https://reletter.com/account/alerts) configuration page in *My Account*:

![](/files/QoA4eBtWfqUb5EsqeM7o)

Create an alert by entering a keyword or phrase (e.g. "real estate"). You can see a preview of the results as you type.

![](/files/D99yvbBlknLe3ExZRZ00)

If any matching issues are found, you will now be sent a daily or weekly email containing the most relevant new issues that match your keyword.

## Advanced Search

You use the following search operators to narrow down your results:

| Description | Example |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| Either terms can match | `real OR estate` |
